Our Story
Lumey and Domingo wanted a better life for their daughters, Lexi and Sheila. In 2014, they arrived in Miami, Florida leaving there two daughters behind. They had a goal: to provide their two girls the dream life they themselves did not have. Lumey and Domingo, did many odd jobs. Every job was an opportunity, and every opportunity was one step closer to being all together as a family again. They saved up money and invested in their first food truck, "Xteak on Wheels." Five years later — through faith, hope, sacrifice, and determination — their red-orange food truck from Miami has helped transport them to where they are today: owners of a true Authentic Restaurant, The Cuban Place located in one of Jacksonville's best-known neighborhoods…and today having the blessings of both Lexi and Sheila with them under one roof! They are an example of what faith, hope, sacrifice, and determination can accomplish. This family is beyond grateful and appreciative to the United States for the opportunity that it offers and represents, but also to the family, friends, and faithful clients and most importantly to God.
